Myrtle Jessop (Beckett) Murray, 93, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on April 28, 2024, which would of been her and her late husbands 73rd wedding anniversary. Born on November 4, 1930 in Glasgow, Scotland, she was the daughter of the late Hal and Violet (Walter) Beckett.
Myrtle served as Salvation Army Pastor (1960-1986), Administrator, Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation for the Salvation Army (1960-1986). After retiring from Salvation Army service Myrtle and he husband, Norman Murray, settled in Carrolton, KY and opened a small gift shop downtown (1986-2023). Myrtle was also a member of volunteer organizations, Carroll County Hospital Auxiliary, Carroll County Hospital Medical Records Department Volunteer, Carrollton Tree Commission, Carroll County Historical Commission, Election Officer, Salvation Army volunteer, Zonta, Rotary Anns, and Garden Club,
Besides her parents, Myrtle was predeceased by her husband, Norman E. Murray and survived by Glennys H. Warsocki (daughter), Michael L. Warsocki (son-in-law), Timothy M. Warsocki (grandson), Benjamin G. Warsocki (grandson), Rachel K. Warsocki (granddaughter-in-law), Andrew N. Murray (son), Beckie K. Murray (daughter-in-law), Elizabeth J. Murray (granddaughter), Jeremy E. Austin (grandson-in-law), Jonathan N. Murray (grandson), Kayla A. Murray (granddaughter-in-law), Calista J. Murray (great-granddaughter), Rheya S. Murray (great-granddaughter), Christopher A. Murray (grandson), Angela J. Murray (granddaughter-in-law), Shelagh Downing (niece), Melinda Riechert (niece), Hal Beckett (nephew), Kay Beckett (niece), Jon Beckett (nephew), Carol Stephenson (niece), Colin Whittemore (nephew), and Bev Smith (niece)
Calling hours will be on Sunday, May 5, 2024, from 3:30pm-5:00pm at The Salvation Army, 7018 Buffalo Ave., Niagara Falls, NY 14304, where a service will follow visitation at 5:00pm. A Celebration of Life and Internment will be on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 10am in Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, NY 10595.
