Nancy Brown Life story

Nancy Jean (Summers) Brown, 77, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on April 15, 2020 in Reno, NV.  Born on October 10, 1942 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late James and Ellen (Turbidy) Summers.  On September 18, 1961, she married Ronald T. “Sonny” Brown in Niagara Falls, NY.  He predeceased her on July 17, 2012, after 50 years of marriage.

Nancy was educated in Niagara Falls, NY and spent many years in California and Nevada.  Primarily, she was a homemaker.  Nancy then worked in home healthcare, providing care to the elderly and disabled.

Nancy, lovingly known as Nanna to her grandchildren and their friends, made pancakes for the town’s kids.  They would make a special stop out of the way for “on the way” to school. She was a matriarch that gave nothing but love and comfort to anyone who needed it, and she was full of silly songs and jokes! She lovingly clapped and sang off key “Rise and shine, rise and shine, it’s time for that old rise and shine rise and shine...” to get the household moving in the mornings. She appreciated a good cuppa coffee and a historical romance novel any day of the week, and knew how to make a budget feed a crowd with her home made spaghetti sauce, special ingredient: beer! “A little for the sauce, a little for me!” Was her reasoning for having a nip before noon! She is so loved and missed by so many.

In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy was preceded in death by brothers, James Summers and Thomas Summers; sisters, Delores (Summers) Jessup and Donna (Summers) Brown and a grandson, Joseph Brown.  Survivors include sisters, Agnus Summers (Robert Swendsen), Rose Summers-Trusell and Linda Crewe (Charles Crew); daughters, Estella (Adam Heiser) and Nadine (Andrew Esparza); son, Randal (Doneen) Brown; grandchildren, Tabitha (Jared) Kahn, Jason (Kaleigh) Keele, Victoria Taylor, Andrew (Kira) Esparza, Timothy Brown, Robert Esparza and Jessica Brown and16 great- grandchildren.

Private prayers of committal and interment will be held in Riverdale Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Michael R. Goodlander, OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY.  To share condolences or to send a memorial gift to her family, visit her tribute page at www.GOODLANDERCARES.com
