Norma I. (Rivera) Samalot

Norma I. (Rivera) Samalot, 92, of Niagara Falls, NY, entered into the loving arms of Jesus on August 13, 2023.  Born on January 3, 1931 in Comerio, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Rafael and Maria (Davila) Rivera.  On March 3, 1957 she married Victor R. Samalot.

Norma was raised and attended schools in Puerto Rico and settled in Niagara Falls in 2017 after, as an Air Force Spouse, traveled and lived in many cities throughout the United States with her husband and family.  Her and her husband were active members of the Bridge Assembly of God.  Norma loved to cook, do puzzles and sudoku, crocheting, collecting recipes from magazines and hand fans.  Above all, she had a deep rooted faith in Jesus Christ and loved spending time with her family.  Norma’s legacy will be her being compelled to being a true disciple of Jesus, daily following Jesus and leading others, especially her family, to eternal life. That legacy has come to fruition as many family members have done the same, not only following Jesus whole heartedly, but devoting their life to pastoring, missionaries, worship and all forms of ministry. 

In addition to her beloved husband, Norma is survived by children, Maydee (Pastor Christopher) Cooper, Humberto (Susan) Samalot and Ivan (Darlene) Samalot; grandchildren, Pastor Ryan (Heather) Cooper, Tony (Maria) Samalot, Pastor Michael (Danielle) Cooper, Justin (Maryissa) Cooper, Victoria (Rev. Erik) Tuttle, Deannaca (Maui) Grimm-Tuitama, Alyssa (Wes) Hershberger, Andrew (MacKenzie) Samalot and Nathan; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Katie, Joscelin, Blake, Gabriel, Landon, Josephine, Kylee, Hailie, Grace, Liam, Riggsin, Quinn, Owen, Orion, Aria, Leilei and one expected great-grandchild, and two nieces and a nephew.  Besides her parents, Norma was predeceased by a daughter and a brother, Rafin Rivera.

The family will be present to receive friends on Friday, from 4-7 p.m. at the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007).  Norma’s funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 19th, at 10:00 a.m., at The Bridge Assembly of God, 9750 Niagara Falls Blvd., Niagara Falls, NY, with Pastor Christopher Cooper officiating.  Everyone please assemble at church.  Prayers of committal and interment will follow in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston, NY, with Pastor Ryan Cooper officiating.  If desired, memorial offerings may be made to The Bridge, 9750 Niagara Falls Blvd., Niagara Falls, NY 14304.  Professional arrangements are under the care of the Goodlander family.  Share condolences and view her tribute video at GOODLANDERCARES.com
