Norman C. Himes

Norman C. Himes, 84, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on January 23, 2020.  Born on May 5, 1935 in Pinecreek, PA, he was the son of the late Clarence and Florence (Whitsell) Himes.  On October 31, 1968, Norman married the former Rita Jessie Childs.  She predeceased him on January 20, 2004.

Norman attended schools in Pennsylvania and later came to Niagara Falls.  He proudly served in the United States Army, during the Korean War, from August 31, 1954 until his honorable discharge on December 6, 1957.  Norman fulfilled his reserve obligation on December 8, 1962.  He retired from General Motors after 34 years of dedicated service.  Norman enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping.

Norman is survived by children, Leonard "Lenny" (Star Guthrie) Himes, Brian (Brenda) Himes, Terry (William) Losell and Linda (Marcus) Merrill; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and several step-children, step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.  Also surviving, his brother, John Himes and sister, Lyla (Robert) Bonnett.  In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a son, Steven Michael Himes; daughter, Kathleen Louise (late Richard) McClelland and a sister, Virginia (late Robert Carbonneau) Granville.

Visitation on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY, where a funeral service will be held on Monday, January 27th at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Herman Boyer, Jr. officiating.  Prayers of committal and interment, concluding with Army Military Honors, will be in Acacia Park Cemetery.  Family and friends invited.  In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to a charity of one’s choice.  Arrangements are under the direction of Michael R.
