Paul Julian Life story

Paul M. Julian, 88, passed away on February 22, 2025 at Mount St. Mary’s Hospital, Lewiston, NY.  Born on April 20, 1936 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Jean (McClosky) Julian.

Paul graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1954 and retired from E.I. DuPont in 1992, after 35 years of service. He was a lifelong sports enthusiast from when he was a young boy winning agility contests, playing basketball, softball. Later Paul would play softball for DuPont as a catcher. He was the Captain of the DuPont Golf Team and received a special award for obtaining a hole in one at Hyde Park Golf Course during the Industrial League Tournament.  Paul also enjoyed bowling and when he retired he was in the Men’s Retirement League throwing a 700 hundred series, and a 290 game.  Paul loved Horse Racing and visiting Fort Erie with the family, and his greatest joy was when he took his father to the Preakness in 1987.

Paul is survived by a daughter, Jean (Mark) Catanese; granddaughter, Angela (Chris) Amato; great-grandchildren, Lydia and Anthony Amato; his devoted companion until his passing, Constance Zubin; nieces and nephews, Karen, Dougie, Patrick, Phillip, Nancy, Michael, children of sister June Buffone and nephews from his former marriage, Vick and Greg Fronk and the many friends at Wheatfield Commons where he resided for two years prior to his death. They called him “Mr.  Cool” as he wore his baseball cap (NY Yankees) backwards and his shaded reading glasses, playing bingo or poker, going on bus trips. The facility became home until his health declined in January and he was hospitalized.  He always appreciated his care by  the staff and  aides. He would hand out candy and scratch off tickets during Christmas and always was kind to everyone the family was told.  Besides his parents, Paul was predeceased by a daughter, Andrea (John) Scarupa; sister, June (late Frank) Buffone and his former spouse and mother of his children, Carol (Hogan) Julian.

Private prayers of committal and interment was held in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.  Donations in Paul’s name may be made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
