Richard Alan Linton, 84, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed away on August 13, 2025. Born on July 25, 1941 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Edward and Sarah (Gourley) Linton and the husband of Janice (Clendening) Linton, whom he married on September 25, 2012.
Richard was employed by General Motors and Metro Bus Garage as a “A” Mechanic. He was a dedicated Fireman and fire chief and held many other ranks of service for Niagara Active Hose Volunteer Fire Company of the Town of Niagara. He was involved in building ‘Old Rip’ with other fireman and served as campaign manager for several Niagara County politicians. Richard was active in fundraising for the fire hall and Christmas parties for the children. He enjoyed jamborees (music festivals), was a phenomenal mechanic and enjoyed carpentry, singing, country music, following 90 West and several other local bands, woodworking, Pepsi, and BUDWEISER.
In addition to his beloved wife, Richard is survived by a daughter Tammy (Ralph) Holzle; grandchildren, Amanda (Brian) Monahan and Holly Stretch (Michael Chatt); great-grandchildren, Tyler DeRubeis, Cameryn Monahan and Landon Stretch; step-children, Danelle Nordby and David W. Rivers and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first spouse, Joanne Linton and siblings, Edward Linton, John Linton, Thomas Linton, Beverly Warrick, Patricia Minor and Carol Gumbert.
All are welcome to gather for visitation on Sunday, August 17th, from 12-3 p.m., at the Town of Niagara Active Hose Volunteer Fire Company, 6010 Lockport Road, Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Active Hose Volunteer Fire Company and/or Niagara Falls Firefighters Toys-For-Tots.
