Ruth E. Prindle

It’s an end of an era for all who know and love Ruth E. Prindle as she passed away on December 14, 2020.  Ruth entered this world in 1918 and for 102 years lived and loved life to the fullest.  Born and raised in Niagara Falls, New York, she was city tennis and speed skating champion; scrappy women’s basketball, softball and hockey player; avid ham radio operator; talented writer and Harley-Davidson motorcycle enthusiast. During one week in 1940, she traveled roundtrip from Niagara Falls to Daytona Beach, Florida on her Harley because she just wanted to “open it up” on the beach.

Ruth commenced her career with the Niagara Falls Gazette in 1936 and subsequently in 1941 joined the start up of radio station WHLD. She loved the entertainment industry and became personal assistant to the famous dancer, Sally Rand; and later was assistant to the General Managers of Mutual Radio and radio station WOR, respectively. Ruth completed her career in 2012 as coordinator of talent for Bramson Entertainment where she booked acts on cruise ships traveling worldwide. She resided in New York City for over 70 years.

Throughout life her warmth, generosity, sense of humor, love of silliness, independence, adventurous predisposition and genuine interest in others propelled her to enjoy a circle of family and friends who adored her. 

Ruth was preceded in death by her brother Robert Prindle, sister Gloria (Robert) Baxter and her companion of over 45 years, Robert Guss.  While she did not have children, Aunt Ruth embraced nieces and nephews as her own.  She is survived by nieces and nephews Gretchen Morgan, Mark (Suzanne) Baxter, and Don (Peggy) Baxter, Bonnie Lehman Baxter and Michael (Catrell) Guss. Niece Suzanne Barker and nephew Rick Baxter predeceased her. She is also survived by seven great-nieces and nephews and ten great, great-nieces and nephews.

Although, Ruth outlived many, she continued to enjoy deep friendships with many, many others who love her dearly.  You know who you are.

Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Niagara Falls.  Those who know and love Ruth are encouraged to raise a glass and toast to the memory of this wonderful lady.  We never say goodbye!  Ruth will reside in our hearts and minds forever. Memorials may be sent to The Mouth and Foot Painting Artists, 2070 Peachtree Court, Atlanta, Georgia 30348. www.MFPAUSA.com.
