Sandra (Chiappone) Gawlak

Sandra Gawlak (née Chiappone) passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025, at the age of 71, after a courageous battle with complications from Parkinson’s Disease.

Born and raised in Silver Creek, NY, Sandra devoted her life to education and to sharing her passion for language and culture. For many years, she taught French at Forestville High School, inspiring countless students with her love of learning and her deep appreciation for France—especially the city of Paris, which always held a special place in her heart.

Beyond the classroom, Sandra was known for her quick wit and unwavering loyalty to her favorite football team, the Buffalo Bills. She cherished time spent with her family and found great joy in the laughter of her granddaughters, Lauren and Grace.

Sandra is survived by her daughter, Sarah (Robert) Cicconetti, and her son, Daniel (Katie) Leven; her beloved granddaughters, Lauren and Grace; and many friends, colleagues, and former students who will remember her kindness and strength.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no formal services. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Sandra’s memory to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
