Our family mourns the loss of our cherished Mother, Grandmother and Nana, Selina D. (Pollock) Wheeler, who was affectionately known as ‘Grandma Cookies.’ Selina was born on June 12, 1925 and raised in Niagara Falls, New York and passed away on December 15, 2020. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Beatrice (Truman) Pollock.
Selina was very spirited from the beginning, raising seven children, working full time, and later embarked on a nursing career, working in home healthcare and hospitals until the age of 84. Selina, a kindhearted, loving woman enjoyed crafting, baking, all of her cats, spending time socializing with friends, playing cards at the John Duke Senior Center and her trips to the casino. She was generous with her resources and performed countless “acts of kindnesses” to those less fortunate. Selina was devoted to her family and kept traditions that will outlive her, thanks to the care with which she passed them down. She considered her crowning achievement her children.
Selina was predeceased by her husband, George of 34 years, and three sons Sam”Jerry”, Ron and John. She is survived by four children, George Wheeler (late Joanne), Sharon Twist (Jim), Jim Wheeler (Anne) and Tina Simmons, plus twelve grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff members on 2 west of Our Lady of Peace for the care of Selina over the past 2 years.
A celebration of life will be announced by the family at a later date. If desired donations may be made to the John Duke Senior Center or the Niagara County SPCA. Private inurnment will be held with her family at Riverdale Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Michael R.
