Thomas Galbo Sr., 96, of Niagara Falls, New York, peacefully passed away on May 31, 2026, at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, New York.
Born on April 10, 1930, in Niagara Falls, he was the son of the late Pietro and Josephina (Ebbole) Galbo. On October 8, 1955, Tom married the love of his life, Rose Butera of Niagara Falls. They shared 50 years of marriage until Rose’s passing on December 28, 2005.
Tom was born into a large family and was predeceased by his three brothers; Sam, Frank and Joseph Galbo and his eight sisters; Rose Fontana, Connie Russo, Christine Christie, Josephine Fontana, Mary Kuczwanski, Lucy Cosentino, Frances Frazier and Josephine Galbo.
He attended local schools and proudly served his country in the United States Navy after enlisting in 1952. A Korean War veteran, Tom remained dedicated to his fellow veterans throughout his life. He was a former Commander and lifelong member of the American Legion Frederick F. Cadille Post No. 1664.
Throughout his career, Tom worked for the Niagara Falls School District, American Terrazzo, Bell Aerospace, and the City of Niagara Falls. He was a hardworking and devoted family man who found his greatest joy in spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He will be especially remembered for bringing family together around his beloved Sunday sauce.
Tom is survived by his children, Peter (Patricia) Galbo, Sandra (Richard) Bowman, Robert (Rita) Galbo, and Thomas (Lori) Galbo Jr.; nine grandchildren; Alexandra (Robert) Duggan, Peter (Rachel) Galbo, Alexa (Charlie) Soldano, Lindsey (Giancarlo) Iuorio, Stephanie Bowman, Nicole Galbo, Gina Galbo, Thomas (Nadine) Galbo III and Dylan Galbo and seven great-grandchildren.
All are welcome to gather for visitation on Friday, from 4-8 p.m., at the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME AND NIAGARA COUNTY CREMATION CARE, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007). Family and friends are invited to attend Tom’s Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, June 6th, at 10:00 a.m., in St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY, with Rev. Duane Klizek serving as celebrant. The Christian Rite of Committal and interment will follow, concluding with Military Honors, in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice.
