Timothy Stickney Life story

Timothy J. Stickney (aka Tim John, Timmy, Timus), 64, passed away peacefully with family by his side on September 11, 2020, after a lengthy and hard-fought battle with numerous medical conditions dating back to his college days. He was born on January 5, 1956, and raised in Niagara Falls, graduating from Niagara Falls High School. Tim graduated from NCCC in 1977 with an AA in Liberal Arts & Sciences and went on to continue his studies at Hunter College in NYC. He worked in Purchasing & Shipping at the Niagara Falls Hilton, Edwin Mellen Press in Lewiston, and Pioneer Linens in West Palm Beach, FL.

Tim scrupulously cared for his loved ones, family, and treasured friends throughout his life. Whether you were a relative, childhood friend, teacher, shopkeeper, bartender, coworker, or even a next-door neighbor, Tim was known for his charm, dry wit, sense of humor, a gift for storytelling, and being humble. Be it a stranger or lifelong friend, he listened with curiosity, empathy, and a genuine interest in knowledge and wisdom.

He was an avid sports enthusiast and, in his signature way of marching to his own drum, a die-hard fan of the Montreal Canadiens, San Francisco 49ers, Sacramento Kings, and Baltimore Orioles. His friends and family knew not to call him during an important game. Tim was passionate about literature, music, art, history, and culture. He loved fishing and spending time in nature from the Adirondacks and Great Lakes to Florida’s waterways and beaches.

Tim was predeceased by his parents, Elsie (Walke) and Arthur C. Stickney Jr., his older brother Arthur C. Stickney III, and his older sister Kerry Stickney. He is survived by his loving sisters Nancy Gervasi-Lasut (John) of Niagara Falls and Alice Stickney (Larry Nichols) of FL. In addition to his two siblings, Tim is survived by his nephews Ryan Gervasi and Tyler Gervasi, both of Niagara Falls, and Christopher Stickney of MD. He is also survived by his adoring niece Courtney (Ryan) Jerome and great-nieces Madison, Zoe, Aislyn and Kensington Jerome of NY.

Tim will wait in heaven to see you all again, but… no pushing, no shoving, no rush.
