Victor R. Waney

Victor R. Waney, 77, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed away on April 1, 2022 at his residence, while under the care of Niagara Hospice.  Born on May 11, 1944 in Galt, Ontario, Canada, he was the son of the late Paul and Ethel (Pfeiffer) Waney.  On June 28, 1969 he married Carol A. Lozinsky at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Niagara Falls, NY.

Victor came to Niagara Falls, NY as a child with his family and graduated from the former Trott Vocational High School.  He proudly served in the United States Army, during the Vietnam War, from June 9, 1965 until his honorable discharge on May 17, 1967.  Victor was employed as a carpenter apprentice and union carpenter for local #290 Carpenters Union.  He later was the owner and operator of C. Waney Construction and ended his career working at Town Hall Terrace on Grand Island.  

Victor was a member of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda, NY and previously Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Niagara Falls, NY.  He enjoyed going to bingo in Canada, bowling and hunting.  He especially loved spending time with with family.  Victor will be remembered for his practical jokes and sense of humor and above all, as a deeply devoted husband, father and grandfather.

In addition to his beloved wife, Victor is survived by children, Michael (Kelly) Waney and Michelle Waney; grandchildren, Joshua, Taylor, Emma, Sophia and Finnegan Waney; a grand-dog, Maizy; his sister, Beverley (Ronald) Porter and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  Besides his parents, he was predeceased by siblings, Paul (living, Pat) Waney, Lorraine (late Charles) Davis and Douglas Waney.

The family will be present to receive friends on Tuesday, April 5th from 3-7 p.m. at the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007), where Victor’s funeral service and life celebration will follow visitation at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Roger Griffiths officiating, concluding with Military Honors.  Private interment will be held at the Western New York National Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to Parkinson's Boxing, LLC, 2852 Delaware Avenue, Kenmore, NY 14217 and/or Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.  Professional arrangements are under the care of the Goodlander family.  Share condolences and view his tribute video at GOODLANDERCARES.com
