William Walter Ohner

William Walter Ohner, 82, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on January 14, 2024 at Niagara Hospice House, Lockport, NY.  Born on January 11, 1942 in Jersey City, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Walter William and Elsie (Garr) Ohner.  On May 23, 2010, William married Deborah Hillis at The Salvation Army, Tonawanda, NY.

Bill, as he was known to family and friends, was raised and attended schools in New Jersey and came to Niagara Falls in 2009.  He was employed as a truck driver for Guaranteed Overnight Delivery (G.O.D.).  Bill attended The Salvation Army Niagara Falls Church, where he also was greatly involved in volunteer work with Red Kettles, Food Pantry Distributions, and numerous other volunteer activities. 

In addition to his beloved wife, Bill is survived by a daughter, Mary (Jeffery) Bedford; granddaughter, Samantha (Brian) Paiz and their children, Jason and Jamison Paiz; granddaughter, Eleanor Bedford and her daughter, Emma MacCombie; granddaughter, Sydney Bedford; grandson, Alexander Bedford; daughter, Eleanor (Nicholas) Scarfino; grandchildren, Thomas Carlton, Jr., Nicholas Scarfino, and Diana Scarfino; son, Will Ohner; step-son, Allen (Hillis) Barlow (Nikole Kopasz); grandson, Connor Kopasz; granddaughter, Leah Kopasz; grandsons, Lukas and Stiles Kopasz; sister-in-law, Cindi Cownie; brother-in-law, Ziey (Jonathan) Cownie; niece, Christina Cownie; nephew, Dylan Cownie, and niece, Erica Cownie. 

Bill's memorial gathering will begin on Saturday, January 20th, at 1:00 p.m. with his memorial service and life celebration at 2:00 p.m., at The Salvation Army, 7018 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY 14304.  Family and friends invited. If desired, memorial offerings may be made to The Salvation Army and/or Niagara Hospice.
