Losing my mother has been the hardest thing I have ever had to deal with. Laura, Mike and the staff made this transitioning process go so smoothly. They had no problem in helping with decisions to be made that are so hard to make while trying to grieve. Not knowing whats right or wrong, Lauras honest opinions helped me make these decisions that I will be ever grateful for. I appreciate every single thing they have done for my family. I first met Mike and Laura on September 23, 2020, my father passed the day before and we were going over his arrangements. Mike greeted us right at the entrance with empathy and compassion. As we were sitting in his office I had an overwhelming feeling to tell Mike about my dad and some of his funny life stories. In between talking about the arrangements & stories of my dad, the meeting lasted for over 2 1/2 hours! Never once did we feel rushed, or that it was all about business. Mike laughed with us and chimed right in with comments as though we were all family. And that is what I absolutely love about them! Mike and Laura set the precedence of not only making a family- like atmosphere for all of their clients, but also incorporating genuine compassion and empathy. We did not feel alone in our grieving journey. And their communication did not just stop after my dads funeral. I have been contacted quite a few times since, just to see how our family was doing and we even got a remembrance card for my fathers birthday! When my dad died I was lost as to what to do. They really made it easy to make decisions in such a hard time. Made those two days extra special and Michael even went above and beyond by speaking at my dads burial. I can’t thank them enough for everything they did!

After my husband died three years ago, I realized I had no idea what he wanted for his funeral. We had a lovely ceremony, but I couldn’t help but wonder if it was what he would have wanted. So, a year or so after his death, I sat down to plan my own funeral. Now, it’s all in writing and I’ve taken steps to make sure the costs of my funeral and burial will be covered so my family won’t be burdened. I am so glad I sat down with Mike and he explained everything to me so I could understand it. He literally walked me through it, over a cup of coffee. So comfortable.

Laura and Mike Goodlander were amazing to work with. They had answers to my questions before I asked. The funeral home is nicely decorated and comfortable. Losing a parent is the worst experience, but I'm so happy that my family chose Otto Redanz Funeral Home.

I met Laura Goodlander at a conference in the fall of 2019. We were discussing the death of a person and the process from the coroner's role and then the funeral home's role and what went into the the care of a loved one. I was impressed with Laura's sense of commitment and how she spoke so passionately about her husband, Mike and the way he prepared someone after death.
Months later I would have to make a decision in regards to my father's unexpected death and choose Otto Redanz Funeral Home to care for his funeral.

Just wanted to thank you guys for the great job that you did with Eileen's services yesterday. I was a pall bearer and had anticipated a tough day. Instead, we got a really memorable send-off to our Aunt and a great eulogy by priest, a reunion of family and friends. You two have a really informal and welcoming way of dealing with people and it was a nice surprise.

Our family could never thank you enough for everything you did. If a funeral can be beautiful this one was. You helped us and guided us through a very difficult time. And I speak from both experience in that Market as I worked in NF briefly before heading south and also from 25 years of seeing the difference between good and great funeral directors. People in that area are blind if they can't see who offers the best in care for NF families. I did my homework and wanted the very best for my dad. We were always with another firm in that area. Ironically my grandfather was buried by old man Redanz on Michigan avenue. But my dads side of the family and most Them thus far always used another firm. Not any longer.

These are the people that help you through the toughest part of life, parting with a loved one. Sensitive to all you are going through, walking you through it all and just taking care of all the many details that you just don't have it in you to handle on your own. They are far more than professional, they are empathetic, and they are genuine. I chose to do my own Video production, but, they would even have done that for us. Essentially they took care of everything (wonderfully) so we could handle the grief and not get bogged down in details.

I want everyone in Niagara Falls know my opinion of funeral service in that area. Yes it's nice that it's still traditional in the sense that the Catholic Church does a respectable FUNERAL for your loved one. I am not sure exactly where to begin in thanking you for bringing some solace into the worst day of my life. After burying my mom three years ago, refraining from making all the painful decisions until the day of her imminent death, my sister and I decided to pre-plan my father’s funeral. I had mixed feelings about this, but we were applying for Medicaid so of course it was the practical thing to do, but in my heart I didn’t want to acknowledge that my dad, my very best friend, was going to be leaving me.
I visited your funeral home and while I didn’t expect to have a good old time, however, after talking to you for ten minutes, I felt it was the best decision I made regarding this entire depressing ordeal.
First of all, you were honest…what a refreshing attribute to find in the business world! Second, you were able to “read” the type of person I was and tapped into my needs and feelings. You explained all I needed to know in a professional yet empathetic way. There wasn’t one ounce of insincerity in your manner, in fact you suggested that I spend LESS on a casket than I was originally planning to spend. You spent much more time than was even necessary, making me feel comfortable and at peace with my decisions. Because of this, I trusted you to make all the other arrangements (choosing the funeral home, selecting a priest to speak at my dad’s graveside, etc). When my dad died only a few weeks later, all that was required was a simple phone call and you were “there”.
I not only respect you as a businessman but as a person whom I was fortunate enough to meet in this crazy, fast paced world. In fact, I find myself enthusiastically recommending your services to all my friends, even though I sometimes get some pretty strange looks!

My mother, Helen A. Stewart, recently passed away on April 2, 2012, in Austin, Texas. Otto Redanz Funeral Home, located at 2215 Military Road, in Niagara Falls, New York, handled the funeral arrangements for my mother. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Goodlander family, and their staff, for the professional, kind, caring, and exemplary service, that they provided to our family, during this emotionally difficult time. They were truly a Godsend to our family, and they were absolutely wonderful, in helping assist us with the process, both here in Austin, Texas, and with returning and receiving my mother from out of state, and having her laid to rest, with a beautiful graveside ceremony, here in her hometown of Niagara Falls, New York. Words cannot begin to express our heartfelt gratitude for everything that you have done for us.

I would just like to thank my wonderful sister in law Laura Sweney Goodlander and brother in law Michael Goodlander for taking care of me and my family and most importantly my Poppy through these hard past few days!
