Michael Ryan Breed, 75, a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2016 at Northgate Manor while under the care of Niagara Hospice.

Mike was born in Niagara Falls, NY on September 14, 1940 the son of Neil and Helen Ryan Breed. He attended the former Sacred Heart Parochial School as a child and then graduated from the former Bishop Duffy High School Class of 1958.

Mike, a true American Patriot whose family’s military service to our country extends back to the Revolutionary War under General George Washington, enlisted in the US Navy and was stationed abroad as a Communications Technician serving in Istanbul, Turkey and Morocco. Upon his honorable discharge from Naval Service, he began a career in industrial supply sales with Syracuse Bearing in Buffalo and transferred to open a branch in Niagara Falls. He spent his entire adult life providing his customers with excellent service at a moment’s notice, all with a handshake and a smile. His motto was “Love People” and he truly did as he thought of his work as not only a career but considered it going out to visit his friends. In addition to Syracuse Bearing he worked for Kaman Industrial Technologies, A/T Supply and then finished his career proudly with Root Neal Supply in January of 2016.

Mike enjoyed sports and was especially fond of golf. He was an ardent supporter of golf great Jack Nicklaus whom he admired for his class and competitive spirit. He was a self-proclaimed Cheese Head who enjoyed watching his Green Bay Packers. Mike volunteered with Hyde Park Little League as both a coach and Vice-President of the Tee Ball Division for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Lasalle Post 1142. His proudest accomplishment was simply he and his wife Marjorie raising four boys and being a grandfather to his three grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Patrick Ryan and William Cornelius Breed.

Surviving are his wife of 47 years Marjorie Rivers Breed; four sons, William Breed of Niagara Falls, Neil Breed and wife April of Burlington, NC, James Breed (Jennifer) of Raleigh, NC and Michael Breed of Cornelius, NC; two grandsons, Coleman Michael Breed of Burlington, NC and Sebastian Breed of Dallas, Texas;  a granddaughter, Kacee Breed of Burlington, NC; a special brother-in-law who was like a brother to him, James Rivers of Niagara Falls;  as well as other brothers-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many great friends and colleagues.
