Patricia Ann (Gates) Lavere, 83, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed from this life on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 in Niagara Hospice House.  Born on July 25, 1932 in Fulton, NY, she was the daughter of the late Vance and Kathleen (Lilly) Gates.  On December 27, 1958, she married Walter J. Lavere in Fulton, NY.  He predeceased her on September 30, 2004.

Mrs. Lavere was raised and spent over thirty years in the Central New York area, until moving to Niagara Falls, NY in 1966.  Patricia graduated from Fulton High School in 1949 and then attended business school in Syracuse, NY. Following her education, she worked in the accounting department at  Nestle’s Chocolate Works in Fulton, as many of her family members had done so as well.  While working at Nestle, Mrs. Lavere often enjoyed bowling with her friends as well as playing golf on a ladies golf league.  Once married and starting to raise a family, it was obvious to anyone, how devoted she was to being a wonderful, supportive and dedicated loving mother.  Patricia made herself available at all times for her family, first and foremost, but yet was still able to enjoy things she liked doing for herself, including, sewing and being a voracious reader.  Reading the New York Times on Sunday morning, with her cup of coffee, was a favorite of hers.  Listening to classical music was a favorite pastime as well.

Mrs. Lavere is survived by one daughter, Mary Lou (Douglas) Reed and their children, Mark and Steven Reed; one son, John W. Lavere; one brother, Donald E. Gates and nieces and nephews,  Elizabeth (Michael) Dunn, Kathy Gates, David Gates, Ann (Mike) LaRock, Marcia Kempston, Loretta Vayner, Teresa Kempston, Mary (John) LeGrand, Walter (Tona) Kempston, George (Dee) Kempston and Robert Kempston.

Visitation will be on Sunday, May 1st from 12:00-2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME in the Town of Niagara, where a funeral service will follow visitation at 2:00 p.m. with Niagara Hospice Chaplain, Robert Goodlander officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation, American Cancer Society or to Niagara Hospice.  Please visit www.ottoredanz.com to view her obituary, light a candle and leave a note of condolence.
