Eleanor V. (Weed) Whalen

Eleanor V. (nee Weed) Whalen, 93, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed from this life on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 in Northgate Manor, while under the care of Niagara Hospice.  Born on December 27, 1921 in Olean, NY, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Frances (Crawley) Weed.  In 1939, Eleanor married Howard Whalen.  He predeceased her on February 14, 1986.

Mrs. Whalen attended schools in Olean and graduated from Olean High School.  Eleanor was employed by Harris & Lever Florist, Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she worked in the nursery and Loretta's Cafe.  She was an avid Buffalo Bills fan and also enjoyed cooking, knitting and crocheting.  Above all, Eleanor loved to spend time with her family.

Mrs. Whalen is survived by one daughter, Terry (Rory) Beahen of Niagara Falls, NY and was predeceased by one son, Richard Duane (Elizabeth 'Betty' of Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada) Whalen.  Eleanor is also survived by one granddaughter, Jennifer Beahen of Niagara Falls, NY; three great-grandchildren, David Pryor, III, Alexandra Pryor and Megan Pryor; two great-great-grandchildren, Alicia Denison and David Pryor and her beloved dog, Spunky.

There will be no prior visitation.  Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside committal service, concluding with interment on Wednesday, September 30th at 2:00 p.m. in Oakwood Cemetery, 763 Portage Road, Niagara Falls, NY, with Rev.
