James H. Olivero

James H. Olivero, 71, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away from a brief illness on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 in Jeannie's House in Northgate Manor, under the care of Niagara Hospice.  Born on December 29, 1943 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Hector and Emily (Szafran) Olivero.

Jim, as he was known to family and friends, was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY and attended local schools.  He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, during the Vietnam War, as an Air Traffic Controller, from June 30, 1969 until his honorable discharge on June 29, 1975.  For many years, he worked as a local general contractor.  Jim loved spending time with his family and pets. 

Jim is survived by two sons, Eric Olivero and James R. Olivero; three grandchildren, Connor, Dominik and Genevieve and three sisters, Constance Olivero, Carol (Robert) Sembert and Candy (late Mark) Hagar.  He is also survived by special nephews and niece, who were a huge part of his life, Robert Sembert, Jr., Suzanne Hedemann, Christopher Sembert, Michael Sembert and Mark Hagar and his close friend, Mike Deck and family.

Visitation will be on Saturday, November 21st from 10:00 a.m.- 12:00 noon in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007).  A private interment, with military honors, will be held in Dickersonville Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice (Jeannie's House), 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.  Please visit www.ottoredanz.com to leave a personal message for the family.
